In some states you are allowed to marry as a minor with parental consent from the age of 15 and you then become emancipated. In Ohio it's 16. Married younger then that is illegal. It says in the law:
Minors 16 or 17 years of age may obtain a marriage license and get married when one of the legal custodial guardians or parents is present with valid photo identification, and present a certified copy of each minor's birth certificate issued by a state or county.
Once you are legally married you are emancipated and you are the only one legally responsible for yourself.
No one is responsible for them. Once married they are considered an adult.
Yes. A 17 year old is still a minor and the parents or guardians are responsible for his/her actions.
No, when one marries under the age of eighteen one becomes an emancipated minor. In the USA, at least.
They are not obligated, because if they are legally married, they are emancipated meaning they are legally adults.
You are a minor until you turn 18.
No. Being pregnant/having a child does not emancipate a minor in any state of the US.
When a minor marries they become emancipated, so you would no longer be responsible for her.
You must have adopted it, or conceived it I believe.
No, at eighteen, you are legally an adult, and the law says you are mentally competent enough to be fully responsible for your actions. Seventeen and below is a minor.
Legally responsible in what context? Parents are responsible for providing their children with food, shelter and adequate supervision. However, if the minor gets into legal trouble, the parents aren't necessarily vicariously responsible.
Probably not. The fact that you are a minor with a child does not change that you are a minor and your parents are legally responsible for you.
An obligation to pay a debt is usually by contract. A contract by a minor is "voidable" meaning that it can be invalidated. However, it is not void. The difference is sometimes important because if a contract is void then someone could never be held accountable. A contract by a minor however, may later be ratified (acknowledged as valid) by that invididual. Ratifying the contract then makes the person legally responsible. If the person who signed the contract as minor does not want to be held legally responsible, he or she must formally rebuke that contract.
