Food safety is really important no matter where you work. Say for instance within a hospital environment, it is often the Nutrition Department, and the Food Services that are responsible for food safety, and throwing out food that is past ther expiry date etc.

Aside from the manager and food handlers, the sanitation officer is also responsible for food safety in a restaurant. The manager should be aware of the place where the food comes from and how it is grown or handled until it reaches the consumers or diners. The sanitation officer should take charge on the cleanliness of the whole place.

It would be best if all individuals involved in serving food undergo food handler certification training to avoid possible risk attached to improper safekeeping and handling of foods.
