Mona dies later in the books, but the messages from 'A' continue.
The person who is sending these is Courtney, Alison's twin sister, who in the end turns out to be Alison, as Courtney and Ali switched places before Ali died, and Courtney was actually the girl who was found in the DiLaurentis backyard in the hole.

∙ 12y agowell in the books its Mona then she dies then there is a new A. the TV show might not make Mona A. Alison actually isn't dead its Alisons sister Courtney who died because Courtney steals Alison's life then Alison kills Courtney and puts her in a hole dead. there twins.
