mrs j.c.- oleta grimes was a personal friend of mine she allowed me to in june of 1973 to stay the week-end with her and her husband cleon sweet lady we were friends up until she passed in 1995 she was the one who first discovererd Elvis,story goes she left the room and when she came back the class was singing and they all stoped she ask what they were doingthey said to her and then said lets do it again so she joined in with them

∙ 9y agoElvis Presley's favorite teacher was Mrs. Oleta Grimes. At first he was hoping he would not get her because she had a reputation for being harsh. However after she heard him sing a song, she took him to Mr. Cole the principles office to let him sing to him. Both were highly impressed and this encounter led Elvis to enter and win a prize in the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show.

His High School Music Teacher said his musical talents were "average" but promising.
His High School ROTC Teacher said he was a wonderful student.
His High School Librarian said that he read as many books as he could during the school year but never checked that many out (i.e. took home with him).
All of Elvis' teachers confirm he was always respectful, on time, and was increasingly attractive with a style of his own.
