Hartmann was a German World War II fighter pilot and still is the highest-scoring fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare.

He goes by many nicknames:

Erich Alfred Hartmann is the worlds highest scoring pilot. He flew for Germany during World War 2 and scored 352 kills while flying against Russian, American, and British planes. He flew 1,456 missions of which 850 he engaged in combat and never lost a wingman.
