In Acts, Saul persecutes Christians because he did not believe Jesus was the son of God. He had many Christians killed before he was spoken to by Jesus and was then converted and is now known as St. Paul.
Saul is first mentioned in the bible in the book of 1 Samuel chapter 9 verse 1. there was a man the sun of Kish mamed Saul.

Saul was the first king Israel. He was anointed as the king of Israel by Prophet Samuel. He was a Benjaminite by tribe.
King Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin because the book of Samuel says he was from the tribe of Benjamin. There is no reference anywhere in the Bible to King Saul being from the Tribe of Judah.

Jonathan, who is one of the heroes of the Bible, was King Saul's son. The book of Samuel speaks of his life and feats.
Saul of Tarsus who was renamed Paul...he was a lawyer who studied under the renowned Gamaliel.
Saul is in I Samuel. David picks up at the end of I Samuel and continues through all of II Samuel. Solomon starts near the beginning of I Kings and continues for about half of the book. Saul and David are also covered in I Chronicles, and Solomon at the beginning of II Chronicles.
