There are 3 Prime Ministers during World War 2, each succeeding the previous: Hideki Tojo, Kuniachi Koiso, and Kantaro Suzuki. Tojo served as War Minister and was put on trial and executed after the war for war crimes. Koiso was a token Prime Minister as he did not have much power. Suzuki was an important voice in the Japanese acceptance of Potsdam Declaration, surrendering to the allied powers, thus ending the World War.

Hideki Tojo was the prime minister of Japan during the battle of midway although for the entirety of World War 2 Japan was a state known as 'The Empire of Japan', which was directly governed by an emperor rather than a prime minister. It was not until the end of World War 2 when US defeated Japan that it become and democratic nation. Hideki Tojo's position was mainly to run Japan's military.
