Two Chief Justices served on the US Supreme Court during President Franklin Roosevelt's tenure in office.

Charles Evans Hughes, who was nominated by Roosevelt's predecessor, Herbert Hoover, lead the Court from 1930 until his retirement in 1941. Although considered a conservative, Hughes looked favorably on most of Roosevelt's New Deal legislation.

In 1941, President Roosevelt nominated Harlan Fiske Stone, who had served on the Court since his 1925 appointment under President Coolidge, to be elevated to Chief Justice. Stone served only five years before dying on the bench while reading his dissent to a case in 1946.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt was in office from March 1933 until April 1945, dying just a month after the beginning of his fourth elected Term. A total of seventeen US Supreme Court justices served on the bench during the President's tenure; Roosevelt nominated eight of them (despite the failure of his court-packing legislation).
