Thomas Hardy was the English poet who denounced descriptions, categorisations and titles such as Georgian Poets. His comment was: it is a pity that these promising young writers adopted such a title. The use of it lacks the modesty of true genius. It confuses the poetic chronology and implies that the hitherto recognized true Georgians- Shelley, Keats, Wordsworth and Byron are negligible.
