George McClellan.

Lincoln feared that McClellan would win this election. It is still debated to this day what would have happened then. McClellan had declared himself to be a pro-war Democrat, so in theory he would have fought on. But many of Lincoln's cabinet thought he was a Copperhead (anti-war Democrat); some even thought he was a Confederate spy.
