Jeremiah was God's prophet of record who gave Jerusalem God's final warnings to "repent" of their sins [disobedience to His Commandments - I John 3:4] prior to the Babylonian captivity; and who saw the monarchy removed from power, from Jerusalem and from historical view.
Chronologically, according to Halley's Bible Handbook, it reveals that Daniel and Ezekiel are the next major prophets of record during the ensuing Babylonian captivity of the Jews after Jeremiah's book ends, and he mysteriously disappears from world history [with the deposed Jewish king's daughters - Jer.41:10; 43:6]
