There was not a king and queen of Spain in 1492.

Ferdinand II ruled Aragon and co-ruled Leon and Castile with Queen Isabel I.

Isabel I was Queen of Castile and Leon and co-ruled Aragon with Ferdinand.

They ruled those three kingdoms together but were only the Monarchs of their own kingdom(s). Consequently they were not the monarchs of Spain. Nor were their children.

Spain was only unified when all three kingdoms were inherited by their grandson Carlos I of Spain in 1516. At that point it became one kingdom.

Carlos I was Crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 1519, and King of Bologna on 22 February, 1530. All told he was King of Spain first (1516), Holy Roman Emperor later(1520), and still later King of the Romans and King of Italy(1530). Charles abdicated his various title in 1555.

There was not a king and queen of Spain in 1495.

Spain did not exist at the time of Columbus. Isabell II was the only monarch of kingdom of Castile and kingdom of Leon. Ferdinand was the only monarch of Aragon. Isabel and Ferdinand were married and ruled together but make no mistake, neither one had anything to say about the others kingdom(s). The three kingdoms were united, and became the basis of modern Spain when their grandson, Carlos I, became the monarch of all three kingdoms in 1516.

There was no "Spain" during Columbus' life. Columbus died in 1506. The kingdoms of Castile, Leon, and Aragon were not united under one monarch until they were all inherited by one person, Carlos I, in 1516.
