The Battle of Camden was a conflict in the American Revolution that began on August 16, 1780.
As the British forces, under Charles Cornwallis, Banastre Tarleton, and Lord Rawdon, advanced, the Continental Army and its militia and volunteers suddenly turned in panic and fled. Part of the Continental flank under stayed to deter the advancing British. The Continental flank under Johann de Kalb (killed in action) was defeated and victory was ceded to the British.
