Why is India underdeveloped?

India is backward mainly because of illiteracy. Many of the Indian have lack of knowledge about Education which is very important for all Human life. Education tells many things and build brains. Because of lack of Education, there is a problem of population, cleaniness, basic understanding of India etc.

India is backward because of not one or two but many reasons...as stated above illiteracy is the main problem, corruption: in which corruption leads to inequality of financial status which results in poverty and from poverty people can't afford to send their children to schools which results in illiteracy and child labour. where as people on the top they are corrupt with nations money to the Swiss banks and its such a shame that India tops in black money deposits in Swiss bank.

Another problem is Caste System which all the politicians are making the best use to win the elections and go to the top and push the country down under the earth.

I think british rule was far better than the current rule, only two things can change the country either people have to change the by nominating representatives from themselves but not from the parties[ i mean a representative should be elected by the people and from the people but not bringing in someone from each party and choosing among them], and two there should be again british rule imposed for at least 15-20 years, but this time without exploiting the wealth of India.

Generally, India is recognised a developing country, while the truth remains that it has everything that developed countries have. But its growth is a skewed thing. However, With 700 universities, thousand of colleges, hundreds of research centres, highly modern airports, world's biggest railway network. very large world-class dams, several metropolises which are no second to New York, London and Beijing - India should in deed be called a developed country, though the fruits of its development are very slow in reaching to half of its population. It happened so because India's ruling class neglected the infrastructure sector in rural areas and concentrated only on urban centres for many decades. Also, India has been world's 4th largest military power equipped with indigenously made nuclear arms and ICBMs. The country has its own space programme too, run by its own scientists.

I think that there are many reasons, that our country is backward in the field of sports. Though, our population is huge, yet we see that our performance in the world event of sports ie olympic is pitiable. Let`s compare ourselves from our neighbor country China. They are 2nd in Medal Table. Hats off to their preparedness in the field of sports.

In my views, the main reasons of our backwardness are as under :-

1. Lack of Infrastructure - We don`t have enough facility of sports in every district, for example Badminton Court, Tennis Court and sports gears required to play these games.

2. Low Income - Nowadays playing these games is quite expensive, only riches can afford. A middle class student can`t afford to spend much money on sports.

3. Career consciousness - In our country too much attention is being paid on Cricket, other games are not being paid due attention.

4. Lack of political will - Politician always promote to the game like cricket to raise their identity among public, they do not seem to be much concerned about other games.

5. Unawareness - Students are even unaware with the games which are played in olympic so how can one except them to play and fetch medals in those events. Who knows about Heptathelon, rowing, and cycling. Can they afford a quality bicycle @ more than Rs 2 lakhs ?

I think these are the main reason why we are lagging behind in interntionak sports.
