Other than a talented artist, inventor, scientist, visionary way beyond his times. He painted The Mona Lisa, the Last Supper. He studied architecture, mechanics and human anatomy, before these ever existed to any great extent. His placement in history is so unique and his superb talent and thirst for knowledge have given us the basic elements to so many things we use today. Without him, we probably wouldn't have advanced in medicine, architecture, the space program, astronomy, as far as we have.

He invented a submarine, a flying machine and many useful war tools.

Leonardo da vinci was important because he created some of the most famous paintings in the history of art. Such as the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper.

He painted paintings such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper during the Renaissance. He also made sketches of inventions like the helicopter, subway system, and the tank centuries before they were actually invented.

Leonardo da Vinci was born 15 April 1452 in Vinci, Italy. He is perhaps best known for paintings such as the "Mona Lisa", which took three years to paint and was completed in 1506, and "The Last Supper".

Leonardo was also a sculptor, architect, musician, engineer, and scientist. He was actually employed as a military engineer: thus, his notebooks contain several designs for military machines, including machine guns and an armoured tank powered by humans or horses. Other inventions include a submarine, a cog-wheeled device that has been interpreted as the first mechanical calculator, and a car powered by a spring mechanism. He is known for designing many inventions that anticipated modern technology, such as flying machines. On 3 January 1496 he unsuccessfully tested a flying machine he had constructed. PBS (America's Public Broadcasting Service) aired a special about the building and testing of a glider based on Leonardo's design. The glider was completely successful. He also advanced the study of anatomy, dissecting bodies and drawing intricately detailed sketches in notebooks, though not many of these have survived. His study of human anatomy led to the design of the first known robot in recorded history. The design, which has come to be called Leonardo's robot, was probably made around the year 1495 but was rediscovered only in the 1950s.

Leonardo died on 2 May 1519. His legacy, besides his paintings, lies in his extensive notebooks filled with engineering and scientific observations that were often centuries ahead of their time.

Da Vinci isn't just important because of his 6 paintings and many other creations but also because of the way he saw the world.

He was one of the first to seek out answers, he had designed tanks and submarines as well as a bridge to span the "golden horn" in Constantinople.

He had kept notebooks of experiments he carried out to confirm his ideas he was one of the first real scientists, he developed a habit of recording his studies in meticulously illustrated notebooks. He experimented on painting, architecture, the elements of mechanics, and human anatomy.

We still have alot to learn from this super brain he was truly fantastic. He had such a wonderful way of looking at things, a way that back in the 1450's was by no mean normal he was born in a very important time when Italy was being reborn when people were just starting to requestion things and he pulled himself out of that time and was dreaming up things that we are only just now hundreds of years later starting to understand.

Da Vinci designed things that are still relatively new to us in the here and now and despite his genius he died unpublished and although his talents didn't go unnoticed by those around him it is only now looking back that you see quiet how fantastic he was.

It is amazing to think of all the things he could have actually achieved had he just stuck with a task to the end but alsa he didn't he would leave things undone and move onto the next, but even so he is one person from history that everyone with and interest in history, science, architecture, painting and mechanics should look into because you'll be amazed what we have learnt from this man.
