Because most people are raised to feel superior to someone else in some way, shape, or form. That way, they can feel better about their status in life and boost their own egos. Some choose to do so with race, while others may pick gender or age. And yet others choose to do so with wealth and class in society.

There are many reasons:
Most people think they got where they are by their own efforts. They don't realize that generally, successful, mainstream people got where they are with someone's help, usually their parents. Often they benefitted, without realizing it, from their government, their culture, their social status, family backgrounds, healthy and stable living conditions, support from extended family, support in school, etc. It is a special type of arrogance and self imposed ignorance.
To be fair, some people are prejudice toward the poor because sometimes it seems they are, in some cases, unwilling to help themselves when help is available. Rising up from your impoverished background takes help and support from others and a willingness to work very hard yourself.
Another reason is the uprise in selfishness, self-centeredness and general meanness towards everyone else including anyone in need. It's easier to think needy people are all just lazy rather than seek out and acknowledge the real needs and address them. The truth is, either we deal with it now or we deal with it later and later is much more expensive.
Yes. The definition of Anti-Semitism is prejudice or hatred towards Jewish people.
The components of prejudice include stereotypes (beliefs about a group), prejudice (negative feelings towards a group), and discrimination (unjust or harmful behavior towards a group). These components work together to create and perpetuate bias against certain groups of people.
A person who had parents or caregivers who showed a tendency towards being prejudice would perhaps take the same views as their own.
My mom whoe was born in 1901 had to go into a "poor house" when her grandnother died. Grandmother had relatives that where "well off": but their society frowned on poor people. There was no Soc. Sec. Nothing you could do , if your parents are poor you must work at 12 yrs or younger to give money to their parents. Today it is not like that, but there is a "deep seated" prejudice if one is poor.
Prejudice is a belief, while discrimination is the actions used to carry out that belief. For example, person A has a prejudice against fat people, so he displays his hatred towards them by maybe refusing to talk to them. The act of not wanting to talk to them is 'discrimination'.
Yes, prejudice against fat people is a major issue in sociology and in medicine. Some of the prejudice may be justifiable, but that is best saved for a debate format. Fat people are more likely to get poor service, to get fired, and less likely to get hired.
Some people fear what will happen if they decide to fight against the majority that is encouraging prejudice towards another group. A lot of people choose to fight against prejudice and these people are usually coming from the group that is being 'attacked' rather than the people who are 'attacking'.
Free Blacks.
Prejudice is to say something before they know the relevent facts, they have an opinion of hatred towards others.
Prejudice: Hatred towards a race, group, or religion Discrimination: Unfair treatment of a race, group, or religion
No. There would be prejudice if everyone were religious. Never mind how religious people are often prejudiced or discriminatory towards people of other religions, if everyone were the same religion, other prejudices, such as racial prejudices or sexual orientation prejudices, would continue unabated. Currently, the largest group of those who exhibit prejudice against sexual minorities are the religious.
