The first weather satellites allowed meteorologists and forecasters to see Earth from space and get a larger picture of cloud formations from above. The program was called TIROS and there were 10 satellites in the series. (A good link is provided below) Prior to TIROS, there were few options available to help meteorologists to predict the weather.

What i think is they are important because they receive and transmit phone calls to other spots on earth. they can see everything on the earth so scientists can predict and see storms in motion. and there are certain satellites that are specifically used to see out in space. they do that to examine the sun and other planets to predict solarflares and to see if other planets are off coarse or any other object are heading to earth.

The GPS is used to refer locations and help if you are lost. The difference between it and GIS is that a GPS can help define locations and a GIS can store information about the lcation.

Why at height the artificial sateillte not pulled toward the earth?

The satellite is being pulled by the earths gravity all of the time, but the satellite also has an orbital velocity, meaning that is is travelling at high speed. These two opposing forces balance out, the 'sideways' speed of the satellite wants to take it away into space, but the gravity of the earth is always pulling it in. The satellite maintains its speed as there there are no frictional forces to slow it down in space, so it maintains an orbit.

What does the work-energy theorem say about the speed of a satellite in circular orbit?

Not very much, I would say. There is no work being done in this situation so there's no change in kinetic energy. So the satellite's speed remains constant. But we already knew the speed was constant. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Is the moon a satelllite of earth?

It is indeed, and an extremely important satellite at that for its effect on the tides and the seasons.

Why animal life is important for earth?

Animals are very important. They maintain a balance in biosphere.

What is the speed of satellite?

A satellite has to maintain 1800miles/hr. around the Earth. If its speed were to speed up the satellite would fly off in to space. If the satellites speed were to slow down it would come crashing into Earth.

If the mass of a statellite is doubled while the radius of its orbit remains constant then the speed of the satellite is increased by how much?

The velocity at which the satellite was launched would have to be increased in order for it to maintain the same orbit. So the speed would be increased.

A satellite in an elliptical orbit loses speed when it?

A satellite in a closed orbit has the greatest speed when it's closest to the planet, and the lowest speed when it's farthest from the planet.

A satellite in an elliptical orbit gains speed when it?

A satellite in an elliptical orbit gains speed as it draws closer to the central body and loses speed as it moves farther away from the central body.

Is it possible to get high speed internet from a satellite service?

It is possible. If you have a good computer, and your satellite provider is decent, then you can have high speed internet. However, you must specify what you feel is "high speed".

Why is it important that a satellite be above Earths atmosphere?

Please remember that close to Earth's surface, a satellite must move at a speed of about 7900 meters/second. If it is inside the Earth's atmosphere, the force of friction will make the satellite lose energy. As a result, it will soon crash to the Earth's surface.
