The first elephant orphanage was established by an American hunter in the 60's - 70's when he saw a baby elephant (stories has it that the baby elephant was wounded) and decided to bring it home. His "collection" of stray baby elephants grew until he had to build another orphange to accomodate the others. But, he never sold these elephants, in fact, after a year or two, he brought the elephants back to the jungle to join the other groups of bigger elephants, which is their natural behavior for their survival.
