Par-boil. Do not cook completely. Finish the cooking on the grill. Parboiling will significantly reduce your grilling time. Try This: Parboil your chicken halves. One for each guest. Marinate them plain old Italian dressing over night. The cheapest Italian dressing you can buy. Finish grilling on your charcoal or gar grill until the meat begins to pull away from the bone. Baste often with the marinade.

It also works with London Broil if you done like it rare.

My dad puts it in some foil with butter and sometimes a little seasoning. Then he puts it right on the grill until it turns a little bit black. I have not ever seen anyone boil before they grill, but it might taste good as well.

When you marinate meat, you are infusing it with flavor, all through the meat, as compared to sprinkling seasoning on the surface. The flavor will be much richer if you marinate, and in addition, marinating also tenderizes the meat and makes it juicier. It has many advantages.

No, you do not boil it first. Shrimp cooks very quickly, only a couple minutes per side. If you over cook it, it will be tough. The best way is to skewer them and grill them. I like to skewer them on bamboo after the bamboo has been soaked in water for a while. I marinate the shrimp in olive oil, vinager or wine and spices.
