For two reasons. First, the right to privacy. You have a right to practice whatever kind of sex in the privacy of your own home between two consenting adults, and if you believe you should be married to practice those things, then you should be able to.
Second, freedom of religion.
Because Polygamy didn't become an issue in America until the Advent of the Mormon Church and their exodus to Utah in around 1850. Back then a number of laws and legislation were passed because of strong religious beliefs. And lets face it, Paul the guy who shaped the entire christian religion, said marriage should occur only if the two individuals were not strong enough to remain a virgin and did not what to commit sin. So clearly Christianity has conflict with polygamy and thus America has conflict with polygamy. Actually the US shut the Mormon church down because of polygamy and in order to be a recognized as a religion again they had to cut out the polygamy. There were actually a number of circumstances in which Mormon leaders were taking advantage of the polygamy thing.
Faced with opposition in the eastern states, the early Mormons began to migrate to Utah in 1847. They continued to practise polygamy (or plural marriage) in Utah, until the practice was officially abandoned in 1890. However, polygamy was at all times illegal under United States law, so legally no one could practise polygamy in Utah.
America could not protect the interests of Cuba.
Precisely the opposite; the Shakers were against ANY sexual contact. Shakers didn't have children, although they could adopt.
Polygamy is shown in the Old Testament as a custom among the Jews, at least for those who could afford more than one wife. The Bible does not really provide an end to polygamy. The practice of polygamy was abandoned by European Jews around 1000 CE, but continued amongst some Middle Eastern Jews until well into the twentieth century. The early Christians adopted the pagan practice of monogamy. The ancient pagans generally disapproved of polygamy, although they did not actually consider it illegal. However, The New Testament states that a leader of the church should only have one wife, which leads us to believe that this practice (to live without polygamy) is proper if the head of the church is to follow it.
Early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) practiced polygamy because they believed that God had revealed to Joseph Smith that the Biblical practice of polygamy was to be restored. They ended the practice in 1890 after a later prophet, Wilford Woodruff, said he had received a revelation from God to end the practice. You can read the official answer to this question from the Church, as well as answers from Mormon church members at the "Related Links" below. You can also read the revelations restoring and ending the practice of polygamy in the Church.
There several sources of conflict regarding polygamy. You could talk about the conflict among various religions over the issue of polygamy. You could talk about the social structure of the family and how conflict among the wives is handled. You could talk about personal internal conflicts about polygamy.
The second amendment is the right to bear arms. Which means you have the right to own a weapon to protect yourself. You could then, choose to draw a fire arm.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) allowed members to practice polygamy (having more than one wife) between about 1840 and 1890. Polygamy was banned in the Mormon church in 1890 beacuse the United States government seized all the church's assets until they would end the practice. Since 1890, members found to be practicing polygamy are excommunicated. Brigham Young died in 1877, 13 years prior to the time when polygamy was banned. Therefore, he and others who lived at that time were able to have multiple wives.
In every state there is faimily that lives under the rules of polygamy and we don't even kow it. So there could be one.
Although there are various reasons why the constitutional framers included the right to bear arms in the Bill of Rights, the main reason why this amendment was created was to insure that the citizens of the United States could protect themselves. At the time this amendment was created, (1791) a formal police force that could protect the civilians did not exist. Therefore the framers of the constitution recognized the need for self-protection and thus, the second amendment was created. There wasn't really a precise moment in history that led to this amendments creation, although one could say the revolutionary war mainly contributed to its adoption.
