When ben Franklin got shocked the people thought that he was just another person who got shocked. Just like when Alexander Gram Bell invented the telephone (i think) then people probably didn't believe him until it worked. But when Franklin discovered electricity, and it worked, people loved him because they could see and they didn't need lanterns anymore.

Benjamin Franklin was one of the minds behind the American Revolution and the famous American Declaration of Independence. His signature can be found on the ancient document, now located and preserved in a glass case in Washington D.C. Not only that but his connections with the French court helped the Americans win their independence from Great Britain, seeing as he himself went to the royal court of France to ask the King of France for his support in helping free the United States colonies from the hands and control of Great Britain.

As difficult as it may be to understand today, Franklin believed that it was the duty of those blessed with wealth to be of service to others. He was part of the 1%, but thought of something other than accumulating more wealth for himself.
