Because he has been the major influence on thinking about 'the order of things' in all of China for the last many hundreds of years. Today, the Communist leadership is actively promoting Confucianism again as the basis for China's society. Not surprisingly, because Confucianism is very much about everyone accepting his place in the 'natural' order of things, 'natural' of course now meaning the society as established by the Communist party of China.
