Short answer: God, through the person of Jesus, died on the cross so that the sins of all could be atoned for. This would allow all persons to go to Heaven upon death if they accepted the sacrifice of Christ. This is all according to modern Christian dogma and Biblical statements.

Long answer: Read the New Testament. If you are quick, it should only take a week or less and many modern versions are easy to understand.

Jesus Christ came to earth to accomplish the will of His Father. To provide a "sacrifice" thus securing for a man a way to spend eternity in fellowship with God Himself.

God created man to have a relationship with Him. God gave man a free will so we could choose to accept or reject Him. Adam chose his own way instead of Gods way and thus allowed sin into an innocent world. Because of Adams fall we all bear a sinful nature that cannot exist in the presence of a Holy God. But because God still loves us and wants to have a relationship with us this "sin" had to be paid for. Only a perfect sacrifice would do and God's own Son was the only means by which a perfect, unblemished sacrifice could be obtained.

Christ died to pay for your sin and mine. He loved us so much and wanted to restore a personal relationship with mankind so badly that this personal sacrifice was made in joy. No one took His life, he gave it.

He allowed Himself to be crucified because He loves you more than you can imagine and was willing to pay your debt on a cross suffering a cruel death that only we deserved. He must really love us.

In The Bible, it was saying stuff that Jesus could still feel pain and do a lot of stuff that a human can do. So he probably didn't want to feel all that pain because before he died, he said "Eli Eli lema sabachthani?" which meant "My god my god, why have you abandoned me?", but he loved us more than we think he does. One reason of how you can find that is because some people say that he said "Father, father, forgive them, they don't know what they're doing!".

God sent Jesus Christ, His only Son, so that we might have new, everlasting life. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).By His death and resurrection, Jesus paid for our salvation. He broke the power of sin and death, making it possible for us to have everlasting life.

God let his son die on the cross for us to forgive our sins. God knew that Jesus would rise and would be seated at his right hand.

Was Jesus crucified because he was the son of God?

jesus wasn't crucified because he was the son of God, but rather he was sacrificed so that humanity's sins could be atoned for. In order to send a perfect sacrifice for all of humanity, God had to come to earth "himself," via his son, Jesus. So the answer to your question is, yes, in a sense, but the real reason for Jesus' sacrifice is because of God's love for humanity. It was the only way to save us.

What are some Islamic and Catholic differences?

Islamic Perspective:Some of the differences are:* The Catholics believe (this belief was confirmed many decades after Christ) that Hazrat Jesus Christ (AS) was the Son of God.* The Muslims believe that he was a holy Prophet, miraculously born to Hazrat Marry (AS) who was a Virgin. He was sent to preach to the Jews, but the Jews didn't accept him as prophet or the son of God, rather they had him (according to Christian belief) crucified for his claim that he was the son of God.* The Muslims believe that he was not crucified. He rose to heavens alive.* The Muslims believe that Almighty God has no Son, No Parents, no off-spring, No Partner and No Associate whatsoever. He is Unique and there is nothing like Him. Is god selfish?

No, God is not selfish. God wants only the very best for his children. This is why he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to be crucified on the cross. So that all of us could be forgiven our sins. Does that sound selfish to you?

What was the Crucifixion?

The Crucifixion of Christ marked the beginning of Christianity. Christians believe that Christ, the Son of God, was crucified so that we would not have to spend eternity apart from God, who cannot bear the sight of sin.

Yes, he was willing to sacrifice the only son he could ever have to be loyal to God but God let him keep his son because he was faithful enough to do it. I hope this is helpful.
