He was beaten military-wise by the ENORMOUS power of the USSR, Stalin. Beeing very afraid of beeing strung up for all people to see his defeat he ordered his personal assistant Gunther to drench the bodies in gasoline and to burn them up.

By them I also mean his (recently) wife (Eva Barun).

In the bunker 1945 Hitler decided to end his (& his Eva Braun/Hitler) life. The Russians where 'knocking on the door'. he had decided to stay, no matter what. So he bit a cyanid ampulle and directly after that he shot himself. His wife took just the cyanid capsule.

This ended his regime. Before that he dis what all dictators do; they hold on to power without letting anyone even come near it.
