The Bible does not say he folded them. Instead, it mentions that the head napkin was wrapped or folded together in a place by itself. It was separate from the body cloths, and Jesus had passed through the cloths leaving them wrapped as they had been on His body.

There is no mention of a napkin in the King James Version bible.

Ignore that chainletter going around. The "custom" it talks about never existed. It's not Jewish, Roman or Greek. At that time, Jews didn't use napkins.

Is it good manners to place your napkin over your plate when finished?

There may be food residue on your plate, which will make the napkin even less clean than ever. Your best bet is to fold it with the cleanest part outwards and place it to the left of your plate.

What about a napkin folded almost like a triangle?

* In the US, this is merely table art. It is done by folding the napkin in this manner. The napkin must already be folded in quarters after ironing. Next fold it into the triangle by folding the open ends of the square to the opposite end. Then sit the napkin up by folding the opposite corners of the long side of the triangle together and creasing gently with the fingers. This napkin should stand on the plate or table independently by opening the long side slightly and standing that edge to the user. * If you are having a fancy dinner party you can also twist the napkin and put it in the wine class with the top sticking out.

Should you use napkin folding?

If you leave the table but do not want your plate cleared, fold your napkin and lay it alongside your plate. If you want your plate cleared, just rumple it up to signal you have finished your meal.
