Because parables are just that; parables ARE -- Memory Aids, pure and simple.
They're kind-of like 'word-pictures'. Our minds are made in such a way that 'word association' -- assists in memory.
For some people who have problems remembering 'names'; 'word association' makes all the difference. Example: Today at our JW convention I met a girl named Balereet. My goodness how could I ever remember that? So I thought and pictured a 'ballerina'. And Bingo, I can easily remember her name.
Parables are like 'mind videos'. You can play them over and over in your mind, and it's easy to remember the whole purpose of the story. Kind-of like Aesop's fables.

∙ 9y agofor in Psychology we could easily remember stories than instructions that are very formal, that stories that are informal instructions.
However the purpose of teaching by parable was not to make the lesson easier to remember but to hide the teaching from those who did not genuinely seek the truth.
