I think Henry broke from the catholic church in 1536 not in 1533; however in any event, Henry broke from the church so that he could innul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon and marry Anne Boleyn. The Catholic church would not agree that Henry's marriage to Catherine warranted innulement whereas Henry insisted it did because he did not want to be married to Catherine anymore (since she could not produce a male heir) and since Henry wanted to marry Anne Bolelyn.

ALSO the grounds that he wanted to divorce Catherine was because she was married to his brother Arthur but Henry married her so that she wasn't a young widow... she claimed that they never consummated the marriage (sex).

Why did Henry VIII make a church of England?

Henry VIII changed the permitted church from Catholic to Church of England when he could not get the Pope to agree to divorce. He wanted an heir to the throne and his longtime wife could not provide one. ==============Henry did not make a Church in England and he certainly didn't make the C. of E., The Church was in Britain from a very early age and was simply a communion of catholics within the Body of Christ. The Catholic Church. He didn't make any deep changes, he simply insisted that the Church return to the early catholic teachings of the Apostolic Succession and the Ecumenical Councils of the first thousand years. As regards the first notice, Henry didn't seek a divorce, he sought an annulment! __ The current Church of England dates to Henry VIII dissolution of the monasteries. There have been many Churches of England that date back far before this, however the current C of E dates to Henry. His daughter Elizabeth was instrumental in furthering the strength of the Anglican faith as the primary faith in England. This time period is often referred to as the English Reformation. After the Pope excommunicated Henry, he established the Church of England: In 1533, Henry went ahead anyway and married Anne Boleyn, with whom he had a daughter, Elizabeth. The pope excommunicated him, and parliamentary legislation confirmed Henry's decision to break with Rome. With the help of Wolsey's replacement, Thomas Cromwell, Henry established himself as head of the Church of England and ordered the dissolution of the monasteries This represented a huge break with the Church in Rome, not a minor dispute and is viewed as the starting point for the C of E. The current C of E is not Catholic, although there are many similarities between High Anglican and Catholic services.

When did King Henry VIII sereve his bond with the Catholic Church and why?

King Henry the VIII officialy broke away from the Catholic church in 1533. He did so because he realized that his marriage with Cathrine of Aragon would produce no children and because he was also madly in love with Anne Boleyn. In/around 1526, King Henry the VIII severed his ties with the Holy See ~this action became know as the Reformation. King Henry had grown tired of his marriage to Queen Catherine of Aragon, many years his senior, after she failed to produce him a male heir to the throne. Henry met and was taken with Lady Anne Boleyn, one of the Queen's ladies in waiting and petitioned the church for an annulment from Catherine on the grounds that in the eyes of God, they had never been married. Henry sued for the annulment on the grounds that Catherine's marriage to Henry's Brother Prince Arthur (deceased 1502) had been consummated (although it was never proven and Catherine denied it adamantly) Pope Clement VII denied the request, declaring the marraige legal. This led Henry to Denounce the pope and declare himself head of the church of England. Henry exiled Catherine and disinherited their only child, Mary. Henry was then free to marry Lady Anne Boleyn in a secret ceremony in late 1532 immediately upon Henry's return from France where he was seeking support for the marriage from King Francis. A public ceremony was held on Jan 25, 1533 and Anne Boleyn was crowned Queen Consort on June 1, 1533. Their only child, Elizabeth, was born on September 7, 1533.

Why did Henry VIII make the break from rome because of power?

England was a Roman Catholic Country. In 1533, King Henry wished to divorce his wife of over 20 years (Katherine of Aragon) because she was over the age of child bearing and of all her many children by him, only one had survived, the Princess Mary. Henry needed a son and by this time had also fallen in love with one of Queen Katherine's Ladies in Waiting, Anne Boleyn, who, being younger than Katherine, he hoped would provided him with the male heir he wanted. He asked the Pope to grant him a 'divorce' (rather an annullment), from Katherine. The Pope refused so Henry broke the English Church away from Rome's jurisdiction, set up the Church IN England (rather than the Church OF England). It remained essentially Catholic during his reign.
