Why did Rick Riordan become a writer?

Because it was his talent, and he had tons of help, and that was what he wanted to be. But the beginning of PJO ( Percy Jackson and the Olympians) was when his son, Haley, wanted a bedtime story filled with Greek myths, so Rick quickly made up a story about a demigod named Percy Jackson. Then once the story was over, he thought, this would make a good story. So therefore, he began to write and eventually( after TONS of work) got published. Now if you look in the lightning thief book, it will say, To Haley, who heard the story first, and you will know why.

But he became a writer because of the reasons I have stated, and because he had had patience, perseverance and tons of heart.

I think, if I remember correctly, Rick Riordan loved to tell his son bedtime stories and he sometimes told Greek mythology stories because he used to be a Greek mythology teacher. After a while he couldn't come up with anymore stories so his son told him to make a new one and that's why he wrote the Percy Jackson series.

Haley had dyslexia just like Percy Jackson and the other demigods. The character Percy Jackson is based on his son. One night his son said "Dad these stories are so good you should make a book."
