Why did Vanessa Williams resign from her position as Miss America?

A few years prior to winning the Miss America crown, she
was given a drug-spiked drink, at a wine-&-cheese party,
by a man who was both a photographer and who she
had once considered to be a friend that she could trust.

Once she had become affected by the influence of this
potentially deadly chemical combination (which was
of both the alcohol and the date-rape drug placed
in it), he removed her clothing and also placed her
in compromising poses with another person
(who, by the way, had not been drugged).

Then (long after she discovered what he had done,
told him it offended and upset her; and he promised
he had destroyed both the photos and negatives) he
waited until she had won the Miss America crown and
then sold the photos to a seedy men's magazine
(which published them) against her will or consent.

Despite the fact that she had worn the crown and the title
with dignity, respect and morality from the moment that
she won the contest, a few weeks after the photos were
published -- (against all legal attempts by Ms. Williams to
prevent the release of the photos of her being exploited
and violated while chemically-induced) -- the Miss America
organization removed her crown just a couple of months
before she would have finished out her successful reign
because, per the organization, they felt that 'she' was
the one who had committed an offense against their
organization simply by participating in the competition.

The irony of the entire matter is that not only was Williams career
in show business NOT destroyed by (what was, back then, seen as)
a "huge, shameless scandal", but, due to her amazing talent, ethics
and good will -- she has actually emerged (like a phoenix rising from
it's ashes) as THE most successful of any person ever chosen for the
title of Miss America in the entire history of the organization's run.

First of all let me say even though her career has always seemed forced upon the industry as her "art" seems shallow, I like Vanessa. I have always thought she was a beauty and atalented dancer actress.comedienne.

But I've always wondered what happened to the Mount Kisco photographer David Chapel who also asked me to take my clothes off when I was 19. They were running a "modelling agency" in Mt Kisco New York and Vanessa was the front desk/make up artist. and I was there to have my photo shoot. Photos that I was told were free because some guy in a mall told me I could "Be a model." But I was lied to and had to pay $150 after the fact to get the photos for my "portfolio". They told me I needed it for my new career making money to save the folks house! I'll never forget the lousy job Vanessa did on my makeup but I was told some of that money was to pay the "makeup artist. Vanessa Williams

The studio was up a staircase on a top floor of a building across from the Mt Kisco train station. Very little was there and yet somehow it all seemed kind of seedy. To be honest I think it was because the photographer weighed about 400 pounds the whole thing seemed odd. As I arrived I'll never forget seeing Vanessa's face for the first time and thinking "Omg what am I doing here!"This tiny little blond mulato woman with beaming blue eyes...honesty she was like the most gorgeous creature I'd ever seen. So confident and graciously distant, but she welcomed me into the photo studio as if she was not only the make up artist but also the receptionist. Which makes me wonder to what degree she was involved in helping this pervy guy take pics of unsuspecting young girls. I was about 19 maybe 20 yrs old I believe it was 1980 or 81. It says on the photos but Im not digging them out.

David Chapel took a few dozen stupid unflattering photos. I was told to bring a change of clothes etc. At the end of the shoot he asked me if I would consider doing something nude. That he had this vision of me naked with his pet tarantula's on my body...who kknows maybe he was thinking a la Nadia Kinski and the snake and really was trying to be artsy, but I was skeeved out. I said no.

You know Im realizing as I write this I should call People mag lol....no Im just kidding....nothing against Vanessa except I have to wonder nowadays wtf she was doing there if her family was living comfortably in Chappaqua. I was there because I was desperately trying to think of a way to save my family's home about to be autioned off by the Bank of New York (inside tded off I should say for peanuts to a local friend of the bank). Like I said I LOVE Vanessa (would never buy or listen to her music but respect her talent) but I HATE HATE HATE media Propaganda. Im wondering just how sophisticated it is sometimes, beyond our wildest imagination....Imagine i this "scandal" was in fact staged to in fact make her the only Miss America who's name anyone ever remembers for the African American cause? Kind of brilliant....I could imagine people's heart's being in the right place....and yet a lie is a lie....

None of these people ever hurt me other than tricking me out of money really but they contributed to artificially manipulating history to push their own agenda...in fact I shouldn't say I "love" Vanessa, in fact I detest her style of music..She's talented as a dancer, singer actress but the projects are always safe and lame....

I was just watching her NBC geneolgy special and wondering if any of her story or the documents are contrived into an elaborate hoax for some reason...sorry Im forever cynical more than most...I just had the urge to go digitalize those old photos so no one wonders if Im exaggerating or making anything up.
