Lord Voldemort didn't actually know or care who Cedric Diggory was. Cedric ended up in the graveyard by mistake and Voldemort didn't want to leave any loose ends, so ordered Wormtail to "kill the spare".

∙ 15y agoVoldemort didn't kill Cedrick; Wormtail did. Voldemort needed Potter alive in order to use Potter's blood to bring him back to life, and intended to kill Potter himself after he was restored to his body.
