They had no leader.
The Israelites were in Egypt for 210 years, though the slavery lasted not more than 116 years.
The Israelites were slaves in Egypt for roughly 400 years .
Moses leading the Israelites from Egypt was approx 1500BC
40 years of wandering in the desert.
From Egypt to Israel it took the Israelites 40 years. It took this long because G-d wanted everyone of the slave generation to have deceased.
It is called the "Exodus".
According to tradition, The Israelites lived in Egypt for 210 years, of which they were in varying degrees of bondage for some 118 years.
According to the Bible (Exodus 12:40-41), the Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years. The biblical genealogy suggests that Moses was born sometime prior to 270 years after the arrival in Egypt.
I was a matter of prophetic fulfillment:"...the LORD said to him [Abraham], 'Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years." (Gen.15:13 NIV)When that amount of time had expired and the prophecy was fulfilled... God set in motion the process of miracles and works that led to their liberation. In other words... it was the right time.
The Israelites had been oppressed by the Egyptians for over 400 years. When God sent 10 plagues over Egypt, pharaoh let the Israelites go.......but not for long. He quickly changed his mind and pursued them. The Israelites were scared and asked, "Were there not enough graves in Egypt that the Lord will let us die in the desert?" Moses replied, "Stand firm and you will see the deliverance of the Lord today." Moses then parted the Red Sea and the Israelites went through on try ground. When Pharaoh's army tried to cross, God closed the waters and Pharaohs whole army drowned. They were able to see the deliverance of the Lord.......thats why it's such a big event. (I had to study Exodus for over 6 months......thats why I knew the answer!!) ~Bible Quizzer~
There is no record, tradition, history, evidence, or mesorah that the Children of Israel were ever in bondage in Syria. They were, however, not allowed to emigrate for several decades in the late 20th century.
I believe it took 40 years for them to set foot in Caanan, but then three more years to control all of it
