Why did Oliver cromwell become such a tyrant?
Cromwell lost patience with the Rump Parliament. The army wanted
more influence and to be paid. When the Rumps refused to hold an
election unless they could be guaranteed their seats, Cromwell
marched in with a troop of soldiers and drove the members out. He
then locked the doors of Parliament and put the key in his pocket.

What did Oliver cromwell have to do as lord protector?
Basically he did everything a king did, but, as he was in charge after the civil war, he didn't want to be king. So they gave him the title of Lord Protector. Hope this has a…nswered your question! :P (MORE)

Oliver Cromwell (who overthrew Charles I) was the great, great, great grand-nephew of Thomas Cromwell (Chief Minister to Henry VIII). Thomas Cromwell's sister Catherine was …married to Morgan Ap Williams: a welshman who was believed to the great-grandson of Henry VIII's grand-uncle Jasper Tudor (Morgan's grandmother was believed to be Joan, an illegitimate daughter of Jasper). Catherine and Morgan's son Richard took the name of Cromwell when he came to court under the sponsorship of his Uncle Thomas. Richard was the great-grandfather of Oliver. yes, he did. he and parlimeant made a pertishon and everyone who wanted the kings head off, had to sign it. so then they cutted off the kings head, chrles the first, and there… was no ruler. who would rule the contry because the king is dead, and the army said they would rule the contry but Parliament said they will do it. and there was one person beetween those two, oliver cromwell, and he had a tittle of lord protechtor. then later after he died, and his son was sposed to take charge but instaed they decided to bring back the son of Charles the first and make him kind instead. i hope my knowledge helps u :) (MORE)
