The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 took place in Nuevo Mexico, a province of the Spanish Crown, today known as New Mexico, USA. The actual participating pueblos were in the northern part of the province. Most of the southern pueblos had already been depopulated due to famine and drought. The capital of the province, Santa Fe, was taken over by natives 70 years after its establishment, and held until 1692 when it was retaken by the Spanish. Some of the pueblos are still occupied today. Laguna is the only pueblo in New Mexico that was established in years after the Pueblo Revolt.

There are several Native American tribes that habitate in pueblo style communities located primarily in the southwestern United States. In New Mexico, the Taos and Isleta Pueblos are examples of regions that also may include Native American reservations for various tribal communities that may form pueblo communities.

Th Spanish missionaries had forced them under coercive methods to convert to Christianity, and forced them to work and pay tribute in the form of their material possessions (blankets, food, etc.).

In 1680 the Pueblo Indians organized a revolt under the leadership of Pope' and killed two thirds of Spanish missionaries. This drove the Spaniards out of New Mexico and into present day El Paso.

Well, the english, spanish, and french really didnt come to their villages like they did with the other tribes like iroquios, souix, ect. So they didnt take over and take their land..... so it probably just eroded away when the populating started to decrease or something............ ._.
