Caesar's Tenth was mostly all Spanish as was his Ninth Legion. Pompey also recruited there and the final battle of Caesar's civil was was fought against Gaius Pompey, the son of Pompey the Great, in Spain.

∙ 13y agoSpain had a sizable Carthaginian population which were at loggerheads with the the Romans. Especially after the Carthaginians invaded Italy through Spain, it was seen as necessary to control Carthaginian colonies in Spain during and after the Punic Wars with Carthage.
