well im not totally sure but i think it was because England were getting altogether more stronger than Germany but if japan hadnt bombed amercia Germany probably would have won.

I think that's a tough one. Certainly Stalin had a non-aggression pact with Hitler & helped to divide Poland in 1939. Therefore when Germany invaded the west Hitlers' eastern frontier was secure, but Hitler had no intention of being on the same side as the Bolsheviks. It is apparrent when the Germans launch Barbarossa in 1941 the Russians were ill prepared, just how long Stalin expected his non agression to last is unknown. I think it was more a case of Hitler reneaging on the pact than Stalin changing sides, but I guess the question has a valid point. As men of their word go Hitler and Stalin are not to be found at the top of the pile.... !!

While Hitler and Stalin did initially divide up Poland it was a temporary political tactic for Hitler. Contrary to his own advise in Mein Kampf whereby he stated he would never fight on two fronts at once it seems he felt he even more powerful than he had figured because suddenly he launched an attack on the Russian front with disastrous consequences. It is rather doubtful that Russia ever trusted Hitler considering that in Mein Kampf Hitler did not have anything good to say about the Russians and in fact considered them pretty close to the bottom. In essence it was not so much that Russia switched sides as it was that Russia was protecting itself from the same enemy that the "west" was. We now know that the getting into bed with the west was a ploy by the Russians to get control of Poland after the end of the war. While many Poles fought tirelessly for their country they were doomed since side deals were made whereby at the end of the war Poland had already been committed to Russia.

When Nazi Germany treacherously attacked Russia despite the Russian-German Treaty of Non-aggression, Russia was forced to defend itself.

Later on, American military aid helped them to defend and eventually defeat the Germans on the Eastern Front.

Had America not assisted, Russia would most likely have been overrun and Hitler would have then been able to concentrate all his military forces on defeating any Allied invasion of Occupied Europe, invading England, and eventually attacking the USA through the secret alliance with Mexico.
