I guess the U.S. still doesn't like communism because of its' modernism and multiple hidden belief's; like how communism is somewhat of the birth of a totalitarian gvrn. == Citizens of the U.S. are generally opposed to communism because they live in a Capitalist society. And in Capitalist societies the leading corporations (Most of which are owned by leaders of the country) control the media, and promote anti-Communism, for the benefit of the rich, at the cost of the poor. For more information on the subject go here: http://groups.myspace.com/CommunistPartyMarxismLeninism. == Another reason is the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia during the late 1910s. This led to the first "Red Scare", because the world, mainly the U.S., first saw communism and from that point associated it with revolution and violence. Also, during the 1950s, most of white Americans lived a very comfortable life that they attributed to capitalism. The financial aspect of the American Dream was achieved, and the thought of someone else controlling Americans' income was frowned upon. The Cold War didn't help much either.

Communism, should it ever spread into the USA, would result in many businesses being owned by a government. There is less individual motive and more of a collective one. Entrepreneurs would be a thing of the past. The US is a very capitalist country- no benefits, no equality either. It is based on someone either being born rich or having to go out and make their money. It has a very large contrast with what it would be like under communism. And the US (or at least the people in charge of it) like the US just as it is, despite how unfair it may be. If communism ever spread into the US, it would mean the end of the system of government it has now. And since all the government members are at the top of this metaphorical ladder and like the country as it is, as they are wealthy, they want to keep it like this. Secretly, they are probably scared. Scared that the workers of their country will rise up, inspired by Russia. They knew that they needed to prevent this to happen. So, they began to write Propaganda. This fuelled the hatred of communism, stopping workers from seeing it fairly. People were hunted like witches in 17th century England. This ensured the entire country hated it, by playing on patriotism. This kept the rich rich and the poor loyal.

How did the US help fight communism?

In the past, the U.S. has exacerbated Communism via isolationism towards countries such as Cuba. Nonetheless, the US has helped to fight communism, mainly by living and leading by example. For example, the average household income and per capita GDP of the relatively free and democratic US has been much better and higher than that of communist countries over the years. In other words, the best way that the U.S has helped to fight Communism is by leading by example.
