The Greeks based all their beliefs on their imagination not based on science. Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece, so they believed that Zeus(supream ruler of the gods and ruler of the sky) threw lighting bolts down from the mountain duing thunder storms. of course the Greeks couldn't actually see the gods because mount Olympus's peek is surrounded by clouds.

Ancient Greeks did not have the same technologies and tolerances that we do. So, when people tried to climb Mount Olympus and never returned, their friends and family thought that the Gods disintegrated the climber.

Back then, people didn't have advanced technology to explain what was going on. The had no logical explanations, so came up with gods. They thought that gods caused natural disasters, how the world came to be, and death. There were no other explanations at the time, so that is what they believed.

Well, they made up these gods from constellations. (a group of stars that form an imaginary picture) They thought what they saw were real so they made up the myth. They thought the gods put of the constellations for the Greeks to know about them.
