However, the Mayflower came to America in 1620, which was sailed by the Puritans who were escaping England and seeking religious freedom. Their goal was to establish a new Colony, which was called Plymouth Colony. Even on the boat, they made the Mayflower Compact, a set of laws for their settlement.

∙ 12y agoThey were Puritans from England. They were persecuted because they had separated from the Church of England. In 1620 they got permission and some financial support from a group of merchants to settle in Virginia, so they set sail.
