when the enclosure started,most farm workers lost their job so factory jobs were the only option and it was in the cities so people moved to cities which increased population there in the 1800s

The cities grew because of the large influx of immigrants who mostly settled in cities. Some farmers moved to the cities for work because their farms failed. In the gold country cities grew because the gold miners either got rich or went broke and needed jobs.

People moved from rural to urban so there was more work to be done in the cities and that is why cities expanded. Also suburbs to a part in making the cities expand.
