So that drivers ahead of it on the road can read it (correctly) as AMBULANCE in their rear-view mirrors, and yield the right of way.

If the word was not reversed, the drivers of the cars ahead of the vehicle would see: "ECNALUBMA."

Of course, if it has flashing lights and sirens going, they would yield to it anyway. Perhaps this was done so that drivers would not mistake an ambulance for a police vehicle with similar lights.

The word is written in reverse on the front of ambulances.

The reason for this is that any vehicle ahead of the ambulance

and travelling the same way can see the word correctly from their

on board mirrors.

So when a driver looks into his rear-view mirror and there is an ambulance behind him, the word "Ambulance" looks as if it is the correct way around.

If it were printed normally onto the ambulance, the driver of the car in front would see a reverse image in his rear-view mirror, and may not pay any attention to it, or take longer to register that it is an ambulance.

Try writing the word Ambulance on a piece of paper. Stand in front of a mirror with the paper in front of you and you will see the word flipped around.

You notice they only do this on the front of the vehicle. When looked at through a rearview mirror, the word "ambulance" appears normal this way. This allows persons in vehicles in front of the ambulance to immediately recognize what's behind them, and get out of the way.

Letters are written backwards and upside-down so they can be viewed from different angles and through a (rear-view) mirror. This applies to a variety of contexts.

Why is word ambulance in an ambulance is reversed?

The word ambulance on an ambulance is backwards because when you're in front of an ambulance and there's an emergency you would usually see from your rear view mirror. When you see something in a mirror it is always backwards. so when you see the word ambulance on an ambulance, you would see it normally.

Why is the word ambulance written reversed on the front of the units?

Its written backwards on the front of the unit so when a driver in front of the unit looks in the rear view mirror as the ambulance approaches from behind, he'll be able to read the word properly and identify the unit for what it is. And will hopefully get out of the way if the unit is rolling code 3.

Why ambulance written in mirror view?

This is because the word AMBULANCE can be read through a rearview mirror of the vehicle in front of it.

Why do you think that the word ambulance is written in the reverse on front of the ambulance front?

So that if you see it in your rear-view mirror, you can read it instantly, and pull over to let the ambulance go by (which is the law in most if not all states).

Why is an ambulance an example of reflection?

Reflection refers to seeing something through something else-- such as a mirror. Have you ever looked in your rear view mirror at the front of an ambulance and realized that the word "Ambulance" could be read easily? That is because it is written backwards on the vehicle. The word in the reflection is correct . . . without the use of the mirror, it is unreadable.

Bcoz the name written in opposite direction looks on the correct direction when viewed through the mirror so that is the reason…..if a vehicle going in front of the ambulance can read it correctly and give a way to go a head
