They sleep upside down because they sleep in caves. When a predator enters the cave, they all fly around like maniacs to try and scare of the predator and it is harder to reach the bats when they are upside down.

it is a myth. they don't. sometimes, owners of water dragons will hold their pet upside down because they think it is funny, which is wrong. The water dragon will close its eyes and appear to sleep but is actually suffocating! unlike humans, that have muscles to help us breath no matter what position we are in, water dragons rely on gravity to keep breathing. when you turn a water dragon upside down, the pressure of gravity pulling on its ribs slowly pushes the air out of its lungs and can die.
