Dogs have a very developed sense of smell. Dogs are pack animals and simply do not understand when you leave them to go to work or out to do something without them. It is stressful for them and they think they are being abandoned. To reduce their anxiety they will gather up shoes or dirty laundry that smells like you and stay near it "thinking" that you are close by and not somewhere else. The stinkier the clothes, the better. Eventually some dogs become accustomed to your regular absences.

∙ 12y agoclothes Cary human scent and for a dog the scent is the next best thing to being with their owner. the reason a dog would sleep with a human's clothes is be cause its almost like being with the owner. its what the do when their master isn't there
