This happens a lot when people scream or yell. If you have ever gone to a football game or anything that involves cheering, and your throat feels strained afterwards... its because you (I don't want to say damaged) but hurt your voice. Or like when you hear a little girl scream so high pitch you have to cover your ears. A pitch like that is actually how high she/he could sing. It takes a while to sing that high and not feel the pain. You'd have to work up to singing that high again, if you don't work with it you'll end up straining it and then your voice will start to suck when you sing high much like mine. lol Remember, vocal cords can be damaged as easily as any other muscle. I used to be in choir, my pitch was so flat I dropped out. Anyway, that is what music lessons are for, I guarantee, at least one famous singer took voice lessons to get where they are now.
Singers change their singing voice because they want to sound better. Some singers edit their voice while others find ways to improve their singing voices. An example of this is a true example I experienced: my cousin played a CD she made of herself singing in gr.8 and it sounded pretty good and when I asked her to sing the same song for me now that she is in gr.12 she sounded fanomenal, I could not even believe how much her voice had changed! She sounded better than singers like Taylor Swift and Shania Twain. This had showed me that you can not always make assumptions that the singer edited their voice because there are many ways to improve your singing voice.
Yes. And no. Technique is the key to not loosing your singing voice and causing damage to the vocal folds. Vocal rest and (in extreme cases) surgery in the form of removing vocal nodules cures such problems (not good). Vocal nodules are pollups or blisters that can form on the focal folds (chords) due to inproper overuse. Proper singing technique is very difficult to master. Because the act of singing takes on very personal psychological and spiritual connotations, using the body as an instrument is a very delicate, vulnerable, and liberating experience. Muscle memory, posture and breath control are key factors in singing. To not loose ones singing voice it is vital to have a comprehensive understanding of the body: the skeleton, the respiratory system, and the vocal apparatus. Open a book on the human body. Explore Feldenkrais and esp. Alexander Technique to understand how to use your body with maximum efficiently and avoid damaging the voice. Instances of damaging singing inc. a hoarse voice singing, a sore throat and back pain. Think of grounding your feet and raising your head, so as you sing you are being pushed/pulled both down and upwards. Not loosing your voice will take gathering info. from many sources and people of different disciplines. One voice teacher seldom has all of the answers. Lastly, discover your diaphragm. You don't have concious control over your diaphragm, but learning what it does and how you can use it through breathing is vital to good singing technique. After you train your body, you can sing from your heart. Singing is spiritual athletisism.
A general question that requires a complex answer, but assuming the person concerned is fully trained, skilled and with experience, a very basic answer is - Proper breathing and breath supported with the diaphragm, strong fully controlled breath is required to give the voice adequate support for singing.
Throat singing originated from Tuvan people from the southern part of Siberia. The throat singing is a unique singing style in which a multiple vocal sounds synchronizes over the main pitch. If one is truly devoted in learning throat singing, it is best to find a throat singing instructor.

The truth is that everyone is born with a singing voice but you may not feel like you have a singing voice if you think you are bad. To learn singing you must find a voice teacher to help you. They are great because they can hear what you need to improve on. If you get a voice teacher you will be able to find your "true" singing voice. Your true singing voice is the voice that is easy to find with a voice teacher. Once you find your "true" singing voice high notes will come naturally. You will also feel like singing high notes require less effort (they actually do) and you are supppossed to use less air to sing them. Hope this helps you out, have fun learning to improve and find your "true" singing voice with a voice teacher. You can look in the phone book under the yellow pages for voice teachers and if it is not there ask your friends. I secretly asked one of my friends how they are very good at singing and that person told me that they have a voice teacher. It is true that you may not think a voice teacher is necessary but a lot of people you know now probably have one and they just don't tell everyone. Just to let you know I have a voice teacher and she sure helps me a lot. Not to be rude but it is best to have a voice teacher that is the same sex as you because if you are a female they can help you sing high notes and if you are male they can help you out on those lower notes.
