If you need to ask the question, then you just don't get it. I know some people play Blues Music because they have seen bad things and hard times. Others because they like the spiritual and mental state it brings them to. Others simply because they like the sound. Me, I play the blues for all of the above reasons. Technically at it's best blues music is simple music played with great passion. Passion, maybe that's why I play the blues.

Creativity has always been a way to express emotion. From joy to sadness, freedom to oppression, all aspects of the human experience can be revealed and communicated to others through art. And art is a form of communication.
Music is one form of artistic expression that reveals deeply held feelings in a beautiful heart moving way.
The 'Blues' certainly are an important part of this art form, describing the deep pain often felt in a human life and transforming it into something that all humans can feel and understand. As mentioned in the previous answer, slaves in early America, used this form of art to help them survive. Music was part of their culture. It gave them hope, helped them work together on something positive, built their faith and communicated their pain. It was created because such tribulation needs to find a voice...people need to be heard, and because music soothes the heart.

The Blues is really a form of folk music originally sung by African Americans. It was just music the people made and sang, and they drew influence off one another. Due to the fact that many of these people were often very poor, or enslaved, they had no access to records. This means the music just formed from a desire to make sing, or play music.
