Autistic people do not think like animals. It is offensive to suggest that Autistic people (not 'people with autism') think like animals, we think like people because we are people.
Research has found out that animals think the way like autism savants. Even some people with autism claimed that their thinking processes are like an animal's. Animals are visual thinkers, they store their memories with pictures. In other words, animals make visual associations, just like autistic people. Fear is the most important emotion in animals, especially prey animals as sheep or horses. Fear is also the main emotion in autistic children. Please see related links below for a page about autism in animals.
Temple Grandin did say most autistic individuals think more like animals than like people. Animals (like dogs, horses) have sensitive hearing, same as other autistic individuals. And most animals don't make eye contact and it's the same way with people with autism. Some animals will try to run away or be violent if being touched suddenly which is the same with autistic individuals also. Touching is a sensory issue. Animals prefer their own space and don't like being involved in crowded areas same as autistic individuals.

Autism is not mental or physical per say, nor is it always a disability. Autism is a neurological difference - some people with autism do consider themselves disabled because of the way autism effects them, but many autistic people live just like neurotypical people so do not consider their autism to be a disability at all.
The eyes of a person with autism look the same as the eyes of other people.
Because people misunderstand us and think we are weird. Also, there are false stereotypes like the stereotype that says autistic people don't feel empathy. We do, we really do.

A person who has autism, is born with the disorder.but it is probably passed down from the parents, meaning that the parents have it and when the child was born it had it. i am explaining it because i don't want you to think it can be passed down like a cold. but it doesn't have to be they can just be born with it by themselves.
