They are listening all around.
The animal is listening to the sounds around itself and other rabbits around the warren. The animals need to keep moving their ears around as there are so many noises around them, they are a prey animal and so always have to keep an ear out for the predators which may be aproaching them from any angle. This constant moving of the ears enables the animals to listen for any sound which may become a threat to itself or the other rabbits in its warren (as rabbits tend to be social creatures and graze together), if the animals did not use their excellent hearing all the time the animal would not live very long.
Rabbits, being prey to many predators, have to keep a constant look-out or to be alert to any sound of an approaching predator. By constantly stopping to look round while grazing and turning their ears gives them the best chance of escaping from being killed.
They turn them so that they can hear a specific sound better, because sounds can tell them that there are predators nearby.
They do that because of the things they hear. That's why their ears go crazy when something is loud.

why do rabbits keep their big sound collecting ears
Rabbits turn their ears to collect sound.
because they can ear better
To pick up all the sounds to see if there is any danger.
For the same reason you turn around when talking on a cell phone and the signal get broken. By changing the direction of the receiver you get a better signal.
no they do not. hares are slightly bigger and flatten their ears while running to maintain speed while rabbits keep their ears up
Rabbits have large ears, they can detect sounds from long distances. Whenever a rabbit hears a sound, his/her ears turn toward that direction to get a better hearing. It's the same with a cat!
Rabbits are lagomorphs which means they have large back feet, gnawing teeth, and large ears. Since they have large ears, they can hear all the sounds around them. Whenever a rabbit hears a sound, his or her ears turn in that direction. It's their instinct. When all rabbits were wild, they depended on their sound catching ears! So coyotes or another predator could be detected before the coyote has some fast food!
Newborn rabbits' ears usually open when they are about 1-3 weeks old. When you are breeding rabbits, always keep your voice low so the kits won't be startled when they hear for the first time.
jack rabbits ears are super thin and bllood vessles are there so the wind cools the blood which cools the jack rabbit
Yes I'm in fifith grade u know dat
Ears help rabbits to hear, of course! (But if it is arctic hare, even though it may hear better, it does not keep warmth inside.) Rabbits also use their ears to communicate with. They can move them backwards and forwards, lock them to the side, and they can rotate them so that the openings face one way or another -- the different positions mean different things to other rabbits.
