Why do scholars spend a lifetime searching for the unexplained yet when an average uneducated person tries to enlighten them they cannot lower themselves and open their minds to listen to them.?

Ego. A wise person knows that the whole universe is her teacher. A tree, a person with autism, a cat can all become teachers, if one only learns how to listen.
And -- when a person goes to an ego-filled scholar, and attempts to show them something, if the scholar is not open to listening, what is the problem? The tree does not get upset if a person chooses not to benefit from its shade...
