1 Timothy 2:9 "Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire." Apostolic women choose to dress modestly by wearing skirts for two main reasons. One, slacks, despite how loose or form-fitting they are still show more of the contours of the body than a skirt would. Skirts are inherently more modest for this reason. I believe the second reason is drawn from another verse.
“A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God." People are quick to point out that long ago when these verses were written men's and women's garments both resembled those of long dresses, despite the fact that there were still differences between them. However, it is firmly believed by Christians that God's word is final and does not ever become outdated. It's actually quite simple, according to our culture today it is not "standard" to see a man in a dress. Men wear pants because that is what society deems a man's garment. Our social norms tell us that skirts are for women, therefore by wearing skirts, apostolic women are strictly wearing a woman's garment. So apostolic women choose to wear skirts for both modesty and obedience to God's word.
The practice of wearing long skirts in the Apostolic Church is often associated with the belief in modesty and humility as reflected in some interpretations of biblical teachings. Some church members believe that modest clothing, such as long skirts, helps to maintain purity and avoid drawing attention to one's body. It is also a way to distinguish themselves from popular fashion trends and adhere to traditional values.
Somewhere in The Bible it says that women should not wear men's clothes. I avoid denominations with such a superficial requirement.
Apostolic christian women wear long skirts, as opposed to shorter skirts, to not show as much of their body, to not provoke evil thoughts.
People attending a Pentecostal church can wear any clothing they choose. If you are female, wear what you feel happy with, be it a skirt, jeans or slacks. I've seen all types of clothing. All people have different tastes. The "Pentecostals" are believers in God like most Christian denominations and we don't have set rules on what clothing to wear, long as we look decent. If a church tells its followers what clothing to wear or not to wear, then get out of that church and find another one. God is interested in our heart not what we wear, provided that we dress decently. No church has the right to tell its followers what clothing to wear.
Yes you can; it is the Apostolic Pentecostals that do not believe in wearing pants for women.
no only skirts
No. Many conservative Adventists believe it is the right and proper thing to do for women to wear only skirts, however, it is not a requirement in the church. I would suspect that probably 95% of women in the SDA church wear pants either regularly or on occasion.
The Apostolic church does not believe in women wearing pants. The Pentecostal denomination believes that women should wear modest apparel that does not pertain unto a man. (see Deuteronomy 22:5) Pentecostal Churches do this in obedience to the Bible. This has not changed in the New Testament. The women wear Long skirt or dresses and long sleeve blouse or jacket.
