Climbing for charity
Many people climb Mt. Everest because they want to overcome what many people say is the greatest challenge in the world. for a while, lots of people climbed to try to be the first person to reach the top. many people want to have the experience of being at the top, but as you may know, the summit is to high for a plane or helicopter to reach. some people just love to climb, and the most challenging and exciting climb they can accomplish is mt. Everest. some people want to impress others, or live up to a friend or family member's accomplishments by accomplishing something of their own. mount Everest is the tallest mountain on earth, and lots of people want to experience it.
When Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to summit Mt. Everest, was asked this question, he replied, "Because it is there."
Straight to the depth of our nature, beautiful philosophy.
no im sorry, but that was said by George Mallory. He was a teacher who attempted to climb Everest a looong time before Hillary. He and his partner died on the mountain. There is an ongoing debate on whether or not they actually reached the top. Reply(Did they find them and assume they might have been on their way down or have their bodies never been recovered?)
their bodies have been found, on the 3rd ledge, but confusingly, they were no where near each other. They were like.. on opposite sides of the mountain (well, maybe not that far apart). Hillary & Tenzing supposedly searched for any evidence that they had made it and they found none. people are still looking for a camera that might have a picture in it proving that they made it first, by noone really knows. so yeah, they might have just assumed they were on their way down.

No because Mount Everest is not a volcano
Climbers descend from the summit of Mount Everest by the same route they took to get to the top. During the descent climbers must be more carefull because they are usually very tired and a small mistake could kill them.
