It is a defense tactic. For example, If a dog tries to eat the toad, the secretion tastes bad, and can also cause skin irritation. Also surprising some predators and unknowing people, making them drop the toad, giving it a chance to escape.

Why do frogs pee when you pick them up?

They dont pee. It is a defense mechanism mainly toads use. It is actually called a mock poison but it is not poisonous. When preadators pick up a toad or frog they secrete this thing called mock poison. When the predators taste this it gives them a bitter taste. It fools the hunter into thinking that the toad or frog it tried to eat was poisonous thus scaring off the predator. Toads or frogs usually do this when frigtend so if you keep picking up toads and frogs and they do this to you i suggest you stop because your scaring them.It is a defensive tactic If a dog picks one up the pee tastes bad.For some people it would make them drop the frog and they could get away.

Can you train your adult dog to pee on a pee pad?

Every time yer dog pees on the floor, pick her up or take her to the pee pad and lightly scold it when it doesn't go on the pee pad. If you take it to the pad everytime he does it on the floor, he will evevtually learn he has to go on the pee pad/

Is it okay to pick up frogs and toads find out in nature why or why not?

I don't think it is O.K. to touch frogs e.t.c. as the acid in our skin can affect them.

Are toads poison?

When cane toads are threatened, their glands secrete a milky-white fluid known as bufotoxin. Components of bufotoxin are toxic to many animals. There have even been human deaths due to the consumption of cane toads. Yes. Toads naturally secrete a poison from their skin. If they think they are going to be eaten, they will also create a sticky, white, glue-like poison from glands behind their eyes. Toad poison is not fatal to humans, but can give you a bad stomachache. However, it IS fatal to dogs, cats and various other animals. As another defense, most toads will pee on you when picked up. Toad pee has the same effects as toad poison, but can give you a worse stomachache. And, contrary to popular belief, toads DO NOT give people warts. Toads ARE safe to handle as long as you thoroughly wash you hands afterwards. (Sorry for the long answer.)

Do all toads give people warts?

no toad gives you warts except cane toads, they give you warts when you squeeze their glands and white puss (or stuff that looks like whip cream) comes out but only small ones on the spot that touched the white stuff. if you want to pick them up all you do is pick them up by their back legs and their butt. :) hope that helped!
